GIFTED ADULTS

AGING AS A GIFTED ADULT

As an adult in your middle years or beyond,  you experience and understand some of the challenges of the aging process. As a gifted adult, however, your more sensitive and intense nature adds unique emotional and social risks to your aging process.

The search for kindred spirits and meaningful relationships is essential.  As we age and begin to lose special relationships, finding and kindling new ones can be difficult.  Maintaining vibrancy and engaging with intellectually challenging experiences are very important to us in our middle and later years.  And, along with other issues, coping with conflicting feelings and asynchronous development can be uniquely challenging for gifted adults.

Are you comfortable with your uniqueness? with acknowledging your exceptional abilities?  Do you understand what drives you internally?  Gifted adults who have learned to deny their giftedness in order to "fit in" and to avoid negative judgment by others have spent years hiding their natural tendencies for creative and intellectual expressions.  The result may be frustration, boredom, lack of fulfillment, loneliness, resentment, low self-esteem, and/or depression.

If you would like to talk about these or other issues in your experience as a gifted adult, or if your focus is on living a meaningful and satisfying life as you age, give me a call.
I provide support for just these kinds of concerns, both in-person and online!
